REN was founded in 2000 by Anthony Buck and Robert Calcraft, taking its name from the Swedish word for ‘clean’. From a small standalone store in London, REN is now known for its cutting edge skincare formulations around the world.
There skincare philosophy is something which hugely attracts me to the brand. It can be summed up in three words: Performance, Purity and Pleasure. REN is free from synthetic ingredients and only uses 100% plant and mineral actives.
About the product
The REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask arrived on my desk last week. I have to admit I was slightly nervous as I’d never used a mask like this before. I don’t have any major skin concerns, I do have a very good routine and I’m not one for letting things slip. On reading the packaging I found it promised a lot, complexion renewal, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin tone. Not only that it promised to help reduce congestion and blackheads, and to leave the skin looking luminous and youthful.
How to use
Last Friday I was home alone and set aside a little me time. I applied a generous amount of the mask onto my clean skin. Don’t forget to apply to the neck area and avoid the eyes. I left it for 10 minutes. I loved the smell of fruits. It has natural extracts of passion fruit, lemon, grape and pineapple. It did say that I may experience some slight tingling but I didn’t at all. However, I wouldn’t recommending for hyper sensitive skins as it’s pretty strong. I then removed with the cloth enclosed. I like to use warm water for removing such products.
Once I had removed the product I applied my own moisturiser. I noticed my skin felt tight, not in a I’ve used soap to clean my face way, but my skin felt toned. Really strange because I hadn’t expected it to plump it. I’ll be honest I don’t have many wrinkles but I expect this is what it does to lines. It tightens them and helps reduce them. My skin felt smooth just like I had done an exfoliation and my complexion was visibly brighter. I was pretty happy to be honest. However, this product hadn’t finished there. I do have a little congestion along my jaw line and three days after using the mask all of those little bumps were to the surface of the skin. I then did an extraction and they are pretty much sorted.
Put simply…this is a hero product.
